To become the desired npc in a lobby, have one of the codes on. Then go
online and select which BLOCK you want to STAY in. You cannot change
your block after becomming the NPC. Now create a team and laod a quest
(ex: Lost Heat Sword). Ok, now go the lady at the counter in the guild.
Holz the "Z" button and hit "return to lobby". Continue holding Z until
you appear in the lobby as your NPC. Another thing to know is that to
become Rico, Elly, or Flowen, you must be a HUMAR at MAXIMUM HEIGHT.
Otherwise the skin swap will FAIL.
Offline NPC Codes
The old
offline NPC codes sucked, that’s putting it lightly also. To play as an
NPC offline, start pso with the code like you would for online (see
above online codes). Except, this time, start an Normal Offline Single
Player game. Then load a quest (ex: Battle Training). While loading the
quest hold “Z” until you appear in the pioneer2. Once you appear you
will be your NPC. Then you can quit the quest to go back to normal play
or complete the quest. Also, to “save” the NPC quit and save this time.
Now your character will be a little weird. On the character select
screen the NPC will appear as a normal character with the ID of “?Huh”.
Do not panic, to become the NPC now that you saved it you no longer need
the code. Simply start a single player offline game, and load a quest.
You will once again will become the NPC, except this time you don’t have
to use the code or hold “Z”.

Have
your keyboard plugged into slot #4. Ok good, now go into a lobby. Ok,

infinite item usage with a scape doll and you will never need to be
revived, as one scape doll equals infinite dolls. Also use that cheat
and Always feed Mag and you won't have to wait and buy items anymore.
The infinite item cheat and be used to upgrade yourself with materials.

The
bank code lets you get any weapon you want on the list below. All you
is meseta. You won't spend the meseta (you need about 200,000).
First
you take all your money from the bank. Then deposit the meseta amount
it says next to the weapon on the list. Then press take and you should
see the weapon you chose from the list. For example if Heaven Punisher
says 7680 then deopsit 7680 so that it shows on the bank screen. Note
that if you get a weapon from the list it will take away your top weapon
(being replaced) so I suggest you buy a lot of crappy items and make
them being replace (make sure its a weapon from the weapon shop). Also
note that if you take an item without have a code in it the game will
freeze if you don't quicky press B.

First Step
cIOS Installation
The cIOS (custom IOS) is a custom piece of software that is used by some applications that work with unofficial content.
By installing it, you can for example use Backup Loaders and install unofficial channels to your Wii menu.
Every cIOS uses an official IOS by Nintendo as its base.
This guide uses an updated method to bypass the old IOS236 installation ("trucha bug restoring") steps.
The old steps are still available here, but should only be used if the newer guide doesn't work.
Note: While a cIOS is installed by most people for Backup Loaders, it is also needed by a handful of other applications to work.
There are many applications however that don't need a cIOS.
Most of the Homebrew Applications on Wiibrew only need the Homebrew Channel.
Required
- An SD Card (preferably non-SDHC)
- Homebrew Channel installed (must be up to date!)
- A program that extracts 7zip files.
Result
- 2 cIOSs will be installed, which can be used by backup loaders and some other apps as well.
Guide
Offline NUS Downloads
If you have no WiFi access on your wii, follow these additional steps first.
Else skip to the guide below.
These steps don't apply to the WiiU, since it uses another method to get the WADs.

1. Start up NUS Downloader. If you don't have it, you can grab it on its page (or direct download link)
2. Make sure that "Pack WAD" is enabled.
3. Using the database, navigate to the following files and press start NUS Download for each one:
- IOS -> IOS56 -> v5661
- IOS -> IOS57 -> v5918
4. Open the NUS Downloader directory (the folder where you placed NUS Downloader, you can use extras -> open NUSD directory to open it easily).
You will see a folder named titles. You will find two new folders in this directory:
- 0000000100000038
- 0000000100000039
In each folder, there is another folder for the version you just downloaded. Open this version folder and find a WAD file:
- 0000000100000038 -> 5661 -> IOS56-64-v5661.wad
- 0000000100000039 -> 5918 -> IOS57-64-v5918.wad
Copy both WAD files to the root of the SD card.

1. Start off by downloading the cIOS Installer (If you are softmodding a WiiU, use this one instead)
Inside the zip will be a d2x-cios-installer folder (inside the hbc folder for the WiiU version). Copy this folder to the apps folder on your SD card (create that folder if needed).
Your SD card should look like this:

2. Updating the installer with the newest version
The
installer was made to work with multiple cIOS D2X versions, so the
installer itself does not contain any data on what it needs to install.
In order to make it work, we need to provide it with the cIOS D2X data.
We will download the latest D2X cIOS (v10). While it is still marked "beta", it is actually rather stable.
Now you will have the choice between two revisions:
- beta52 - Has better support for NAND emulation (eg. loading Virtual Console/WiiWare from a virtual NAND), but handles only 1 USB port (so try both) and lacks support for plug-and-play (USB needs to be connected before starting the USB loader)
- beta53-alt - Worse for NAND emulation, but does support plug-and-play and both USB ports.
Download the version you chose using the links below:
Note: It is important that you do NOT use the WiiU version on the Wii and vice versa. This could brick your console.
After downloading, you will have a zip file. This is actually a renamed 7-zip archive. You can use a tool such as 7-zip to extract it (several other programs support it as well).
Extract the file to the d2x-cios-installer folder on the SD card.
Your SD should now look like this (verify):

3. Insert you SD card into the Wii.
Start it up and go to the Homebrew Channel.
Now locate the cIOS D2X Installer and run it.
4. Wait for the app to load. Read the text on the welcome screen (if it interests you) and press A to continue.
5. Time to install the cIOSs
You are now on the main configuration screen. A lot of options will be available here.
- Your cursor will be on the cIOS D2X Version. Use the D-Pad to change it to the newest version (all the way to the right).
- Move down, and change the IOS Base to 56
- Move down again, and change the IOS slot to your preferred slot. Most people use slot 249.
- If you want, you can change the version under the fourth option, though this doesn't directly change the result.
- This version is only used by the Wii when checking updates. You can set the version to maximum (65535) if the Wii keeps asking for updates after you install it.
You are now ready to install, so press A to continue. You will land on an overview with the available cIOS slots.
The slot you just selected should be blinking. Several other slots may be highlighted in red.
Press A to start the installation.
Wait for the progress to complete. It may take a while, especially for the online installation.
Once it finishes, you will land on another IOS overview screen.
Your freshly installed cIOS should be highlighted in a green color.
Press the A button to go back to the configuration screen.
Next, you want to configure the second cIOS. This time, use base 57, and choose a different slot (250 in this tutorial).
Again, press A to install it and wait for the process to finish.
Once everything is installed, press B to exit the application.
cMIOS
Just
like Wii games use IOS to launch, the GameCube games use the MIOS
instead. This is a special kind of IOS which loads only GameCube games.
If we want to enable GameCube backup support, we will thus need to install a cMIOS.
If you use this method, you can not use DIOS-MIOS or DIOS-MIOS Lite.
This does not work on newer Wii models!
If your Wii is not White or not old enough, it will not read backup discs!
- An SD card (Best results are with non-SDHC cards, SDHC will only work on 4.0 or above) or USB device formatted to FAT(32).
- D2X (or another) cIOS must be installed (See here)
- NUS Downloader
Result
- Allows you to run GameCube backups through any Disc Backup Launcher (or Disc channel if your system menu IOS is patched)
Guide

1. Run the NUS Downloader. Enable Pack Wad.
- In NUS go to Database -> System > MIOS > v10
- Open the location where you extracted the NUS Downloader and you should see a "titles" folder. Open this folder and find another folder named 0000000100000101. In this folder should be yet another folder named 10.
- Find the WAD file in this folder (MIOS-64-v10.wad) and copy it to the SD card root.
- Now we need to rename the wad (on the SD card). Rename it to RVL-mios-v10.wad
2. Download the MIOS patcher package. Put the cMIOSWiigator folder of the zip in the apps folder of the SD card.

Put the SD card in the Wii. Go to the Homebrew Channel and run the MIOS
patcher. (It is called "Installer for WiiGator's cMIOS").
4. It will ask for an IOS to use. Change the IOS to IOS249 and press A.
5. It will give you a warning. Wait for the Press 1 message to appear, then press 1. (Doing so before the message appears will quit the installer)
6. Now you basically all you have to do is press A every time:
- Press A to go in the MIOS menu
- Press A to choose Install cMIOS
- Press A to "Load from SD card"
- Press A to install the cMIOS
- Press A to exit.
You should not need to change any other settings.
Once you are done, the cMIOS will be installed. You can now load GameCube games from backup discs!

This is the most important step! Make sure a game disc is inside BEFORE launching AR! Otherwise your wii will be bricked!

Play Phantasy star online with the wii

(Ordinarily I wouldn't post about a project that has no end product available to download, but given the recent kerfuffle going on in the Dios Mios topic I thought it was prudent to give a peek behind the curtain.)
WHAT: Devolution is a loader designed to run gamecube games on a wii. Dolphin was the codename for the gamecube, Revolution was the codename for the wii, add them together = Devolution.
WHY: To do what the "official" method doesn't. I hate GC controllers and the crappy little discs. And if you bought a new model wii you can't play NGC games at all.
WILL: Devolution aims to let you do the following:
- Use alternative mediums for loading games (SD and USB)
- Use alternative controllers (wiimote + classic controller instead of GC controller)
- Use alternative mediums as memory cards (SD, USB and NAND)
- Support audio streaming games properly. It's possible but remains to be seen if it's feasible i.e. if the hardware is going to be fast enough to do what I have in mind.
Alternative loading mediums are already implemented (that's right, working GC USB loading!). Memory card emulation is half-done (reading, no write support). Wiimote and audio streaming support haven't been started.
WON'T: It's not going to be a warez loader. You will need to own (or at least possess) the games you wish to run. I don't plan to ask for any donations, although at some point if there's a particular game that someone wants fixed I might have to insist they provide it or at least the means for me to get it; I'm not going to fork out for a copy of MGS from my own pocket, for example.
HOW: It's complicated (but not impossible!). Basically the wii is a gamecube with extra bits, as long as NGC games can see the hardware they expect to see the extra parts don't matter. One big advantage of Devolution is that it doesn't require any changes to the software on your wii; no replacing MIOS, no extra cIOS or channels, just an app to run from either HBC or the exploit of your choice.
WHO: Me alone. This is a solo project and everything is written from scratch; no "borrowed" code or even any use of libogc. This might change in the future when I want a bluetooth stack. Though the point is this has nothing to do with any other project (my past work or anyone else's) and no, there is no GPL code used so don't bother trying to demand to see the source.

What you need
SD/USB (2GB or larger)

Latest Homebrew Channel
PSO Disk
PSO Manual (On the back is your Serial Number and Access Key)
Download the package from the top
Then place the files in the corresponding location
Start CleanRip and rip the PSO disk
Then make sure that the iso is in the games directory on the USB or SD
When the SD/USB (USB in the slot closest to the edge) is reinserted restart the homebrew channel.
Then run Devolution
When Devolution is loaded, press X for loading from the USB or Y from the SD.
Once loaded the disk drive will flash several times and the game should load.
Press Start and press play online
It will go through some configuration settings

now configure the setting to the same below
- Tone dialing
- No outside line
- Set line timeout to 99 minutes
- No additional AT commands
- User ID (case sensitive): DEVO
- Password (case sensitive): gc
Note that this is NOT your PSO password, that is separate.
- Phone Number; In the first slot type 1 and press OK
- DNS server address:leave as automatic
- No Proxy server information
once set up it will ask you to buy a hunter license.
press back and press play online again.
You will be able to select your character.
after that set up your PSO serial number and access key (Found on the back of the manual)
after that it will ask for a password (i recommend the access key or something easy to remember)
Then once the account is fully set up you can access the server.
When on the game, you will choose a ship, Since the SCHTServ is one server the ship suitable for gamecube play is Elouise, this ship only has gamecube files and on other ships you cannot join a game.
Notes
If the game does not save correctly, you could lose all the items in your inventory, i suggest putting them in the bank on offline mode.
Sometimes you will hardly find anyone to play with but play on the Elouise ship, other ships crash your game and delete your inventory.
If the game displays GC already in use error, send your serial number and access key to schtserv@gmail.com Please remove the hyphens to help speed up the process. it should take upto two days
You can also use this method to download the extra offline quests
If the game takes you back to the HomeBrew channel or the wii menu. there is something wrong in your system files.
I cannot help with this, i simply do not have the time and my Wii is like a custom setup.
